Another edition of LATAMCAN 2022, also known as Latin America Can Makers Conference. The largest metal packaging trade show taking place in Sao Paulo, Brazil between May 11 and May 13.

Following much success at LATAMCAN 2021 in the previous year with participants from all over the world attending to share new knowledges and updates in Mexico. Mr.Raul Matinez, the director of LATAMCAM, said for this year ‘more than 70 can manufacturers already registered, and over 100 exhibitors are expected in total for LATAMCAN 2022, which is building up to be one of the largest conferences and exhibitions in our history. LATAMCAN 2022 expects to have more than 400 people attending from around the world, including the most influential companies and top providers of technology, raw materials, machinery, tooling and services. Over 160 representatives from more than 80 suppliers in our industry have already sign up’

The highlights of this year would be from 2 prominent organisations – the Brazilian Association of Aluminum Can Manufacturers (ABRALATAS) and the Brazilian Steel Packaging Association (ABEACO) where both its president, Cátilo Cândido and executive president, Thais Fagury, attending as keynote speakers in 2pc and 3pc rooms respectively.

The conference covers a range of important topics including:

• Maximizing Sellable Can output by Kalvis Jaunarajs from Integrated Packaging Solutions

• Speed Lacks value without control, the paradox of sealants lining operations by Teressa Ramos (Actega)

• The Benefit of Controlling your Ink Consumption by Jose Carlos Ribeiro from Hyperion Materials and Technologies.

The technical section will cover 2 critical issues that manufacturers around the world faced during the pandemic, in the part of 2pc can, the topic is titled ‘Why the industry needs qualified printers and not operators? Understanding where the development of 2pc can printing is going’ led by Doug Newman from Decotech together with Jeanine Strandberg from hl-repro a/s and Jose Carlos Ribeiro from INX Brazil.

In the part of 3pcs can, presentation will be led by Antonio Galhardo from ACTEGA and Thais Fagury from ABEAÇO, Aldo Brito from SoluPlan and Alain Cagnard from Eastmen in the topic titled ‘The future of coatings for Metal Packaging’ which will be dedicated to discussing the future of metal packaging through different perspectives with the aim of exchanging experiences throughout the production chain. The issues for discussion will include: Substrates: Trends and Reality; Packaging Trends: New Formats, Greater Security; Productivity: New Processes, Greater Reproducibility; Coatings: New Technologies, New and Stricter Regulations; Environment: Legislation on Waste Generation, VOC, CO2.
